Policies

Please read the policies below before registering for any classes. These policies do not cover all contingencies or situations. It is understood that registered students agree to the policies below.

Class Deposit Policy

Most classes require a deposit of $25 to register with the balance due the date of the class. The deposit is refundable up to the closing date, but not afterward. The closing date is usually a week (7 days) prior to the day of the class, and is listed in the course description. Most of our classes are small (8 people or fewer) to ensure a better training experience for the student. Because spots are limited, we cannot guarantee a spot in class unless a a deposit has been received to fully register students.

It is understood that unavoidable circumstances arise on rare occasions where a student may need to cancel their registration after the closing date. In such circumstances, the student agrees to notify the instructor as soon as possible. The instructor has discretion to transfer the deposit to another class or consider other options. It is our intent to work with the student the best that we can to find a mutually beneficial arrangement for the transfer of deposits to other classes appropriate for the student’s level of experience if at all possible. In any case, deposit money will be fully forfeited one year after the closing date of the class it was initially sent in for whether it is used or not.

Students who do not show up for class without notifying the instructor before the start of class agree to a forfeiture of the deposit. It will not be applied to any other classes.

Deposits will be fully refunded or applied as a deposit for another class (student’s discretion) for classes cancelled by the instructor for any reason (ie. poor weather conditions, instructor illness…) with the following exception. Classes often require a minimum number of students. If a class is cancelled because of student cancellation(s) a refund will not be given to students who cancelled after the closing date; however, other affected students in the same class will be allowed to receive a refund if the instructor opts to cancel the class because of a lack of enough students.

Range Safety Policy

The safety of our students and others is our paramount objective. Safety protocols are set up by the instructor, range safety officers and the training facility to provide a safe environment for everyone. These protocols may vary depending on the experience level of the student(s) and the activity they are engaged in. Students will be instructed on proper safety protocols at the beginning of class and before live fire activities, and will also be expected to follow all rules for the training facility.

All students will be expected to follow the Rules for Safe Gun Handling:

  1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
  3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
  4. Be sure of your target and what is in line with it.

These rules must be followed at all times students are handling a firearm, whether loaded or not.

Students will be given reminders for minor violations of safety rules that do not endanger other. Corrective measures will be taken for unsafe handling, and students will be expected to not become argumentative with the instructor or range safety officers about safety concerns. Students understand that instructors and range safety officers may have to physically contact them without permission to ensure the safety of others (ie. to ensure a student keeps their firearm pointed in a safe direction etc.).

Students whose unsafe gun handling endangers others, or repeated violations of safety rules will not be tolerated, and students may be rejected from class. Any student rejected from class will not be refunded the fee for the class, and will not be allowed to attend any other classes for one year from the date of the misconduct. Acceptance into classes after a year’s time will be up to the discretion of the instructor.

Student Acceptance

Line of Defense, LLC reserves the right to accept or deny training to any student for any reason, and also reserves the right to check local law enforcement and other records/sources of any students registered for classes. Never train faster than you can do so safely!!!
